FAQs about company
If I have access to cheap electricity rates, does solar lighting still provide value?
While solar lights generate their own power, it’s prime value is a much lower install cost. For a wired solution, the minimum cost of trenching for wires and a connection to the electrical grid is $25 a foot. This per foot cost can quickly increase depending on the terrain.
Over time, solar solutions are proven to be much more cost-efficient than grid-connected lighting. Installation of a PV streetlight doesn’t require any major work, such as groundwork, trenches, cable laying or electrical cabinets. Our solutions don’t need any maintenance for the first 10 years.
What’s more, by choosing streetlights running on green energy, there’s no more electricity bills. Together, these savings make solar streetlights much more competitive than their conventional, grid-tied counterparts. Today, the return on investment is very quick on some projects and immediate on others.
Why off-grid solar lighting?
Off-grid solar street lights are entirely self-contained, making them ideal for isolated locations, without all the costs of cabling and grid connection. Also called photovoltaic or PV streetlights, they’re quick and easy to install, with no earthwork or trenches needed, allowing you to avoid the disruption and cost of trenching and remediation for electrical wires, so the range of possible applications is virtually limitless.
The key difference between led street public lighting and solar street lighting is their power source. Solar street lights use renewable energy. And because solar energy is free and will never run out, solar-powered led street lights are an ecologically friendly, cost-efficient and completely autonomous solution. They’re a perfect fit with the energy transition led by the government. Solar lighting also offers better availability, since it’s not affected by power outages.
If you’re looking at providing lighting for an outdoor space like a park, parking lot or pathway, solar is particularly well suited when:
The location would require a costly connection to an electrical grid
The install location gets at least 2 hours of direct sunlight a day
Lighting design specifications are within IES recommendation requirements
To recap, the key benefits of solar lighting are:
– no civil engineering, trenches, no wiring, grid connection or electrical cabinets
– no electricity bills & risk of blackouts.
-50% reduction in install cost
– 100% green energy & a smaller carbon footprint
– no maintenance for the first 10 years
How does a solar street light working?
During the daytime, the solar panels on top of the pole absorb the solar energy, turn them into electrical energy via a solar charge controller and store it in our Lithium-ion battery system, the smart battery gets recharged.. With PV light control technology, when dusk approaches, the built-in dusk sensor prompted the streetlight to turn on, after sunrise or at dawn, it switches off.
The level of lighting power is adjusted as part of the project to meet the specific requirements of each customer. For example, it can be set to produce brighter lighting at nightfall and in the early morning, with a lower level of illumination in the middle hours of the night to limit light nuisance and pollution. You can also customize with sensor dimming function as your project requirement.
ARKOSOLAR’s solar streetlights provide guaranteed lighting 365 nights a year, whatever the weather.
How does a solar street light manufactured?
Our solar streetlights are designed and manufactured in Shenzhen China and have four main components:
– a high-performance LED light unit, rated at 6watts to 200 watts
– a LiFePO4 Lithium battery system for guaranteed lighting 365 nights a year, with customized smart programming
– a PV module composed of high-efficiency monocrystalline solar cells
– a pole and crosspiece, designed to withstand the highest wind loads and with optional surface treatment for projects where corrosion is an issue.
Every Smart solar streetlight manufactured at our Shenzhen plant in China undergoes stringent quality control before being shipped to all the world. On-site installation is quick and easy, taking less than one hour. Once installed, it’s immediately ready to use.
Whats the difference between Wattage, Lux and lumens?
Wattage measures the energy required by a fixture to produce light. Lumens are a measure of the light emitted by a fixture. Lux measures the intensityof light falling on a surface and tells us how bright the light appears at a specific point or distance from the fixture. It considers the total light output and how it is distributed across a given area.
How do we kow how many lights we need and what size to use ?
ARKOSOLAR is happy to provide an Engineered Lighting Design which will show the number and size of lights required for your location.
FAQs about performance
Does your solar light turn ON/OFF automatically?
Yes. All of our solar lights turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn by default.
How long does it take for the battery to be fully charged?
6-8 hours by direct sunshine
How many days will be lighting after battery fully charged?
Per day 12hours, 3-5 continuous rainy days
Can the solar lights shine all night? Expand
ARKOSOLAR’s solar lights have the capacity to stay on all night provided they get an average of 2–3 hours of direct sunlight a day and their lighting profile is set to stay on all night. For times when conditions are less ideal, we have incorporated adaptive capabilities to ensure that the lights adjust their output so that they can stay on all night, every night.
Does the solar lights comes with a remoter?
Yes, all of our solar light equiped with microwave sensor technology, when it detect any movement objects, illumination levels will automatically be regulated from a ‘dim-mode’ to ‘full-brightness. Detect distance up to 15 meters, more accurate and sensitive.
What’s the difference between Motion sensor and PIR sensor?
Microwave sensor also called radar sensor, works by emitting high-frequency electric wave and detecting people movement.
PIR sensor works by detecting environment temperature changing, which usually is 3-5 meters sensor distance.
Can we customzied the lighting profile (working mode) of lamp?
Yes, the lighting profile setting at the time of order will be programmed at the factory. A lighting profile can be changed for luminaires at any time through our big remoter ( only for technical person use).
How long will your solar fixtures last?
Our fixtures’ estimated useful life is 15–20 years. PV module guarantees optimal power delivery for 25 years.
How long will the light's battery last?
Our high-performance lithium batteries have a typical useful lifespan of 8–10 years.
My light has been in storage for an extended period. Is there anything I need to do?
During storage, lithium batteries will slowly discharge but should remain usable for a long time. Our lights’ adaptive capability will recharge a discharged battery in most circumstances by simply installing our light in a sunny location. When you connect the battery, you will see one of three scenarios, the light illuminates on for about 20 seconds, indicating a high charge level, the light flashes three times, indicating a low charge level,
or the light does not illuminate.
If you see either the steady illumination or the flashes, the light will easily charge itself in the bright sun. If the light does not illuminate at all, the battery is likely very low and may need recharging. Contact us for assistance in this case at
The sunlight at my site is highly variable, how do I know if your solar lights will operate effectively?
Our lights work best with 2–3 hours of direct sunlight. Without this, all of our solar-powered lights are equipped with our innovative Solar Lighting Controller (MPPT). The smart controller in each light is self-learning which allows the lights to predicatively adapt to their surroundings, providing a level of lighting performance and reliability unmatched in other solar products. A brief conversation will determine if we can provide the lighting levels you require. Please contact us at
How long will your battery operate without (sun) the ability to recharge?
Unlike most solar lights, our Smart control system of solar lights learn and adapt to its environment and therefore have the ability to predict and set the appropriate reserve levels to maintain good operation in adverse conditions. Under worst-case scenarios, the battery’s “autonomy” – its ability to operate without a re-charge – would be approximately 7 days.
Are your lights typhoon, hurricane-resistant?
Yes, our lights are designed and constructed to resist damage from vandalism. Most of our systems are designed for 145 mph winds. In hurricane zones, we’ve created systems that can handle winds up to 180 mph.
Are your lights can be installed at the seaside and protected from rust and corrosion?
Yes, our lamp housing material is all die-casting aluminum, anti-rust, anti-corrosion
FAQs about installation
How long does it take to install your lights?
We find that it typically takes about 5-7 minutes to install solar street light, solar bollards lights, solar flood light and 3-5 minutes for our solar garden lights
Do I need an electrician to install your lights?
No. Because our lights are not tied to the electrical grid and they’re low voltage, it’s not required to have an electrical contractor.
Are your lights a challenge to install?
Our lights have been designed to be easy to install, especially compared to both wired and other types of solar lighting. This is because:
Solar does not require a connection to the electrical grid, eliminating the need for trenching.
Our lights are integrated self-contained. This means that no assembly is required and there is no need to run wiring through the mounting pole from the solar module to the light.
What type of base do you recommend for the luminaires?
Does your company supply poles / post?
Do the poles come with anchor bolts?
Yes, our poles come with anchor bolts as well as a metal template to ensure the anchor bolts are properly aligned.
What kind of maintenance should be done?
Our lighting system is maintenance-free. The rain usually keeps the panels fairly clean. If in an area where the snow gets heavy, you may need to brush off the solar panels. However, given the solar panel’s angle, snow usually slides right off once the sun rises and the temperature goes up.
